Cate gave up two goals in the first half and dropped a 2-1 decision to Bellflower in the second round of the CIF Division 4 boys soccer playoffs on Wednesday.
The Rams came out strong in the second half and cut the lead in half on a goal by Christian Herman. They continued to pressure the home team, but Bellflower’s goalkeeper rose to the occasion and made several big saves.
Herman’s goal came ofd a nice assist from Geoffrey Acheampong, who slotted a through ball near the left post.
“I am super proud of the way we responded in the second half,” said coach Peter Mack. “Had we played 80 minutes like that, the outcome might have been different.”
Regardless of the loss, the Rams are walking away with a Tri-Valley league title, a 12-3-2 record, and impressive playoff advancement.
