Mitchell Cota sparked Bishop Diego to a good start against Tri-Valley League-leading St. Bonaventure on Wednesday night. But the Seraphs stepped up their game and rallied for a 67-49 victory.
Cota scored 10 points and the Cardinals knocked down four 3-pointers to take a 22-18 lead.
“We were hitting on all cylinders,” Bishop coach Jeff Koval said.
St. Bonaventure went to a 1-3-1 zone in the second half and slowed down the Cardinals, Koval said.
Cota scored 12 points, Jon Gaasch had 11, Will Goodwin tallied 10 points and Mike Agnoli scored all of eight of his points in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals (9-16, 3-5).
Bishop hosts Santa Paula on Friday.
