Bishop Diego suffered a 61-58 overtime loss at Santa Clara in the Tri-Valley League boys basketball finale on Wednesday night.
The Cardinals led for most of the game, but Santa Clara’s Isaiah Nichols sparked his team in the fourth quarter and the Saints carried that momentum into overtime. Nichols scored 12 points in the final quarter.
Will Goodwin had a big game for the Cardinals with 18 points, including five 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds. Alexis Herrera had 11 points and Dylan Streett added eight.
Bishop finishes at 9-18 and 3-7. Coach Jeff Koval said the team will petition for a CIF playoff berth. The pairings come out on Sunday.
