Contest organizers announced on Wednesday that the 2015 Rincon Classic has a greenlight for this weekend. It’s happening on the third weekend of the waiting period that began on January 9.

The annual community surfing contest at Rincon has been expanded to a three-day event for the first time this year and will start on Friday.

Competitive heats will be held throughout the weekend in over a dozen divisions, with the winners announced at an awards banquet on Sunday evening.

This year’s Pro Division is loaded.

The defending champion, Kellen Ellison, is back. Also in the pro-division draw is six-time winner Kilian Garland, Dane Reynolds, Matt McCabe, Cory Arrambide, Bobby Martinez, Pete Mussio, Adam Lambert, Conner Coffin, Yadin Nichol, Nathaniel Curran and Tom Curren.

The pro division final is scheduled to begin at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

A complete heat schedule with surfer entries can be found HERE.

Parking is limited at Rincon Beach Park and can be extremely scarce on contest weekend. There will be a shuttle running this year from the Channel Islands Surfboards factory parking lot located in the Carpinteria Industrial Park. The service will run daily from 8am-5:30pm and is open for contestants and spectators. Parking is available on the street as well off of Mark Avenue but the bus will meet at the CI headquarters.
