Seven goals from Olivia Cannell led Cate’s water polo team past Villanova on Friday, 18-6, in the Tri-Valley League opener.
Cannell was one of five Cate scorers. Anna Satterfield added four goals, Isabella Wang three, Ally Sattfield three and junior Emily Sanborn one. Goalie Bella Shealy recorded seven saves.
Playing its first match in three weeks, Cate took an 8-4 lead at halftime. After shaking off some rust, the Rams outscored Villanova 10-2 after the break.
Cate (2-2, 1-0) plays again on Wednesday versus Foothill Tech.
