Jessica Maza scored once and assisted on Carpinteria’s other goal in the Warriors’ 2-1 victory over Fillmore on Tuesday.
“Jessica played the best she has ever played and that was very encouraging to see. She was a tireless worker both offensively and defensively,” said Warriors coach Charles Bryant.
Jenny Alaniz scored Carpinteria’s first goal in the first half and Maza scored hers early in the second half as the Warriors gained a 2-0 lead.
Fillmore cut the lead in half with just a few minutes to go.
“We played with purpose and we played physical which was good to see as we did not shy away from tackles or 50-50 balls,” Bryant reported.
Carpinteria is now 4-6-1 overall and 2-2 in the Frontier League.
