A scoreless second half left Dos Pueblos and Buena locked in a 1-1 tie on Tuesday, giving both teams a point in the Channel League standings.
Ady Willett’s goal in the 20th minute was assisted by Idalis Rodriguez. Buena came back and equalized in the 38th minute on a goal by Hailie Mace.
Opportunities by Kierra Pickett and Elena Ibettson came up empty but Chargers head coach Hugh Hollis was pleased with the result.
“The girls were excellent tonight and played very good attacking and defensive soccer,” Hollis reported. “It was a very competitive game and Buena has a very good team but the girls stuck to the game plan and was unlucky not to come away with all three points.”
Dos Pueblos (8-5-3) and Buena are 2-0-1 atop the league standings. The Chargers face San Marcos on Thursday.
