Carpinteria blanked CIF 10th-ranked Foothill Tech of Ventura, 2-0, in a Frontier League girls soccer match.
Jenny Alaniz scored both goals for the Warriors (8-6-1, 6-2) in the second half. She put away a rebound off the crossbar and finished off a free kick from Kelsie Bryant. Bryant has 15 assists on the season.
“Although we did not play our best, we really showed a lot of heart and fight today,” coach Charles Bryant said. “We lost to the Dragons 3-1 a few weeks ago so this was a nice turnaround for the girls as we are now in second place in the Frontier League. But we still have four more very tough games in a row ahead of us so we cannot get complacent.”
