Solid free-throw shooting down the stretch helped Carpinteria defeat Foothill Tech, 41-36, and move into a tie for first-place with the Dragons in the Frontier League.
Tori Kelley was 8-for-8 from the line and scored 18 points to lead the Warriors to their seventh straight victory. The point guard also grabbed nine rebounds and had eight steals.
“It was just a gritty performance,” Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer said of Kelley.
Maddie Cleek gave the Warriors a big boost, scoring seven points. Sierra Diaz had six points and four steals, Sienna Caudillo had five points and 11 rebounds and Monique Sanchez added four points.
The Warriors improve to 7-2 in league play.
