Elan Halpern’s reverse layup lifted Cate to a 33-31 victory over Thacher on Tuesday in a Frontier League game.
There were a handful of lead changes in the fourth quarter before Cate’s Brittany Newsome tied the game at 31-31. The Rams stopped Thacher on defense to set up Halpern’s winning shot.
Halpern totaled 10 points, five assists, five steals and two rebounds in the game. Newsome had eight points and Delaney Mayfield pulled down 10 rebounds.
Cate led 20-14 at halftime.
The two rivals play again on February 3. Cate’s next contest is Thursday at Foothill Tech.
