Tori Kelley hit a 3-pointer late in overtime to secure a 38-34 win for Carpinteria over Thacher in a Frontier League girls basketball game on Tuesday night.
Kelley led the Warriors with 18 points, 14 of them coming in the second half.
Thacher forced the overtime when it made a basketball with four seconds to go in regulation.
Carpinteria (9-7) got a big game out of Sienna Caudillo. She scored a season-high 15 points and had four steals. Monique Sanchez was tenacious on the boards and on defense, as she grabbed 10 rebounds and had seven steals.
“We played with incredible tenacity and our press really bothered them through most of the game,” said Carpinteria coach Dan Mercer.
The win sets up a showdown with Ventura Foothill Tech on Thursday at Carpinteria. The Warriors are 6-2 in league and Foothill Tech is 7-1.
