Top-ranked Bishop Diego had three players foul out and suffered a 50-46 in overtime in a Tri-Valley League girls basketball game at St. Bonaventure on Thursday night
“We really had to overcome a lot of adversity,” Bishop coach Jeff Burich said. “There were 47 fouls called in the game, 26 on Bishop.”
The Cardinals are the No. 1 team in the CIF 5A Division.
Post players Hannah Rogers and Morgan Wallace were in foul trouble most of the night.
“It was tough getting any continuity because of all the crazy substitutions we had to go through,” said Burich.
He said Sienna Gonzalez played “her best game. She stepped up when Hannah and Morgan got into foul trouble.”
Rogers led the Cardinals (14-4, 2-1) with 15 points. Jordyn Lilly, Anne Bentajado and Gonzalez each scored eight points.
