Bishop Diego opened Tri-Valley League play Thursday night with a 55-23 girls basketball win over Nordhoff.
Jordyn Lilly scored 18 points and Hannah Rogers had 17, and the Cardinals blew the game open with a 17-2 second quarter to lead 27-7 at halftime. Morgan Wallace added eight points and Deja Goodwin hit two 3-pointers.
“The kids shot the ball better compared to Monday night against Carpinteria,” Bishop coach Jeff Burich said. “We got the ball inside and we were strong inside. We moved the ball. I liked the way the kids passed the ball and found the opener players. We made Nordhoff play defense and chase us around a little bit.”
The Cardinals (13-3, 1-0, No. 2 in CIF Division 5A) face a big TVL game on Tuesday, hosting Division 5AA fifth-ranked Santa Clara.
