It will be a battle of top-5 CIF-ranked teams when the Bishop Diego girls play host to Santa Clara on Tuesday night in a Tri-Valley League basketball game.
Bishop Diego (13-3) is No. 1 in the latest Division 5A rankings. Santa Clara is 12-1, its only loss coming to Cabrillo in Bishop’s Bird Cage Classic back in early December.
Santa Barbara opens Channel League play this week ranked fourth in Division 2AA. The Dons are 12-3. Two of their losses came against top-ranked teams, Sierra Canyon, No. 1 in Division 4AA, and Vista Murrieta, No. 5 in Division 1AA. League rivals Ventura and Buena are in the top 10 in their respective divisions. Ventura is sixth in the top division, 1AA, while Buena is second in the 2A Division.
