San Marcos’ boys soccer suffered a 1-0 setback at Santa Ynez on Friday afternoon in a non-league matchup.
A late first-half goal by the Pirates proved to be the difference. The Royals pressed in the second half but couldn’t find the equalizer.
San Marcos head coach Rob Lauderdale credited his team with regaining composure and staying in the hunt for a tying goal. The play from Camillo Gonzagui, Eric Garcia and Andy Mandrell stood out for Lauderdale.
San Marcos’ next game is next Thursday in a league contest with Dos Pueblos.
