Carpinteria escaped with a 3-2 non-league soccer win against a motivated Dunn team on Monday.
Juan Pablo Alvarez took a pass from Benjie Garcia and blasted a left-footed shot from 25 yards for the eventual winning goal in the 55th minute. Carpnteria led 3-1 before Dunn scored in 60th minute to make it a one-goal game.
The Warriors were able to hold off the Earwigs from the remaining 20 minutes, thanks to the play of goalkeeper Lalo Delgado. He finished with six saves.
Eric Contreras opened the scoring for Carpinteria, finishing a clinical three-touch passing sequence with Garcia and Francisco Arroyo in the 28th minute. Dunn tied the scored six minutes later.
The Warriors regained the lead in the final minute of the first half. Arroyo assisted on a goal by Diego Contreras. Arroyo finished the match with two assists.
Coach Leo Quintero cited the play of forward Brian Tiara, who was elevated from the JV team.
The Warriors (6-3-1) return to Tri-Valley League play on Wednesday against first-place Santa Paula.
