Led by a stellar three-goal performance from Geoffrey Acheampong, the Cate boys soccer team shut out visiting Foothill Tech 4-0 in a non-league matchup on Thursday.
Acheampong’s first goal came in the ninth minute of the game as he knocked in a left-footed bender from 22 yards out. However his momentum continued, subsequently broke free of all defenders and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Rams a 2-0 lead early on.
In the 30th minute, a fast-paced shot by Iman Fardghassemi struck the post and Patrick Prestridge scrambled to finish the play and extend the lead to 3.
After a quiet start to the second half, a through ball from Djata Nyaawie me the foot of Acheampong who tucked the ball in the lower corner of the goal, thus completing his hat-trick and closing out the game.
The rams improve to 3-1-1 on the season and will open league play next week where they will take on one of the top Tri-Valley competitors, Santa Paula.
