Santa Paula outgunned Carpinteria in the fourth quarter of Friday’s Tri-Valley League game to capture a 52-49 victory.
Carpinteria led by three at the start of the final period but struggled to protect the lead.
“Too many turnovers and we definitely lost the battle for rebounds. Santa Paula to their credit really sought the ball and we need to be more aggressive in our pursuit,” reported Warriors head coach Johnny Ward.
Mason Picerni’s 17 points were a team-high, followed by Omar Miranda with 14.
The decision drops Carpinteria to 1-2 in league play and 7-8 overall. Santa Paula is now 2-1.
