Dos Pueblos went 2-1 at the Thousand Oaks wrestling quad on Wednesday night, beating two schools in the same CIF division.
The Chargers knocked off host Thousand Oaks, 46-25, and routed Pacifica, 52-15. Their loss came against L.A. City Section power El Camino Real, 46-33.
Coach Anthony Califano said the wins over Thousand Oaks and Pacifica were big.
“Thousand Oaks is ranked ahead of us and Pacifica is right behind us, so it’s a big deal,” he said. “Pacifica knocked off Ventura in a dual meet last week, so it’s real encouraging.”
Four DP wrestlers went unbeaten on the night. Ryan Fidel pinned Tanner Price of Thousand Oaks at the 1-minute mark and posted an impressive 12-2 win over his Pacifica opponent at 106 pounds en route to a 3-0 record. The Pacifica wrestler won the Newbury Park Tournament last weekend. Jose Murillo pinned Aaron Silberman of Thousand Oaks at 3:00 and went 3-0 at 113 pounds. Two-time Channel League champion Cameron Cox pinned all three of his opponents at 138 pounds and Jeffy Uyesaka scored a pin and two decisions at 145 pounds.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday at a tournament in Irvine.
