Santa Barbara High outscored Roosevelt 23-7 in the third quarter and romped to a 73-46 boys basketball victory in a first-round game of the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic on Friday night at J.R. Richards Gym.
Bolden Brace scored 17 points and Ben Clay hauled in 12 rebounds to pace Santa Barbara, which was coming off a loss against San Marcos in the final of the Carpinteria Bashore Cage Classic. Max Henderson and JM Cage each scored 11 points for the Dons.
Santa Barbara’s defense was a key to the win. The Dons had 13 steals, led by Brace’s four.

In other action, Matt Hauser poured in 54 points, leading second-seeded Thousand Oaks to a 107-45 rout of Channel Islands; Newbury Park beat Pioneer Valley 52-42; North Hollywood blew out Hueneme 73-22; Canoga Park topped Bishop Diego 46-39, Glendora, behind AJ Bigornia’s nine 3-pointers, routed Lompoc 86-59 and Carpinteria edged Flintridge Prep 58-54.
In Saturday’s other winner’s bracket games, Canoga Park plays Glendora at 3 p.m.; Carpinteria takes on Thousand Oaks at 4:30, Newbury Park faces North Hollywood at 6 p.m.
