Santa Barbara High’s Summer Garrison extended her high school tennis season another day at the CIF Individual Tournament on Thursday at the Whittier Narrows Tennis Complex.
Garrison defeated Dannielle Willson, the No. 1 player from Corona del Mar, 6-2, 6-4, to earn a spot in the round of 16 Friday at the Seal Beach Tennis Club.
Garrison will be joined by teammates Madison Hale and Mattea Kilstofte, who are in the round of 16 in doubles.
“It has been quite an amazing season for our team and these girls refuse to let it end as they continue to win their matches,” Santa Barbara coach Greg Tebbe said. “I am very proud to have both our singles player and doubles team make it this deep in the tournament. These three girls have been the backbone of our team and their results in this tournament just highlight how talented they are.”
The round of 16 and quarterfinals are Friday. If they win, the semifinals and finals will take place on Monday at Seal Beach.
