Carpinteria faced two of the better teams it has all season on Friday, falling to Arroyo Grande 3-0 and Capistrano Valley 5-0 at the San Marcos Tournament.
Arroyo Grande is the No. 9 ranked team in Division 3 while Capo Valley is a perennially strong program from Division 1.
“(Capo Valley) just did not have any weak spots to exploit and they had a lot more in the tank than we had,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant. “They played at a different gear and speed and we just seemed to go into chase mode.”
Bryant said there were a number of quality performances from his Warriors and that in spurts he saw great team play.
“I am enjoying these tests as I think we will be better for it down the road. But it is hard for the players to get over the frustration of these types of losses,” Bryant said.
