Defender Becca Burratto scored off a long throw-in from Malia Morales in the 68th minute to get Dos Pueblos a 1-1 draw with Moorpark in the Chargers’ season opener at the UCSB turf fields.
The Chargers pressed for the go-ahead goal but the Musketeers held firm until the final whistle.
Moorpark took a 1-0 lead in the first half and created other chances to score. But DP sophomore goalkeeper Anali Salazar was up to the task and “made some fine saves to keep the Chargers in the game,” said coach Hugh Hollis.
Dos Pueblos started to take control of the match in the second half. Ady Willett just missed on an opportunity from outside the 18-yard box.
Hollis said he was pleased with the team’s performance in the opening game.
