Skylar Stokes scored 17 points in her varsity debut for San Marcos in a 52-44 season-opening loss at St. Bonaventure on Monday night.
The Royals got off to a slow start, falling behind 15-2 after the first quarter. They settled down and battled back, outscoring the Seraphs 29-23 through the second and third quarters.
Senior guard Roxy Sandoval and sophomore guard Kaitlyn Miller each scored eight points. Stokes was the team’s leading rebounder with eight.
San Marcos is back in action Wednesday at the Fillmore Tournament.
