Santa Barbara High raced out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter and outscored Cabrillo 28-8 in the second en route to a 67-26 girls basketball win over Cabrillo at the Bryan Ayer Classic in Lompoc on Friday.
Amber Melgoza poured in 27 points to lead the Dons in scoring. Jada Howard tallied 15 points and hit the boards for seven rebounds. Jocelin Petatan added 10 points and dished out six assists as the Dons improved to 2-0.
Santa Barbara completes the tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday against host Lompoc.
