Cate kept its composure after Orcutt Academy hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation and pulled out a 48-46 overtime win in an opening-round girls basketball game at the Bishop Diego Bird Cage Classic on Wednesday.
“We played with composure and intensity,” first-year Cate coach Amy Venditta said of the overtime.
Mikaela Li led the Rams with 13 points and Brittany Newsome added 11 points.
Cate (1-0) plays Santa Clara on Thursday at 4 p.m.
