Bishop Diego completed its Bird Cage Classic with a pair of lopsided girls basketball wins on Saturday. The Cardinals routed Orcutt Academy, 37-13 and beat Cate, 56-26.
Jordyn Lilly scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Ann Ventajado scored six points in the win over Orcutt Academy. The Cardinals played without post player Hannah Rogers who was taking a college test.
Rogers returned for Bishop’s second game and scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Lilly led the Cardinals with 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. She was named to the all-tournament team.
“It was a really good defensive effort in both games,” Bishop coach Jeff Burich said. “Morgan Wallace played well. She had six points against Cate and did a great job defensively in both games.”
The Cardinals (5-1) return to action Friday in the Green Division of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions. They open against Arroyo Grande.
