Cabrillo hit a late 3-point basket and made four free throws down the stretch to beat Bishop Diego, 49-44, in a second-round game of the Bird Cage Classic girls basketball tournament on Thursday.
The game was tight throughout. It was a one-possession through most of the second half until the Conquistadores made a trey to go up by four. Bishop cut it to two, but Cabrillo knocked down four free throws in the last 30 seconds to secure the win.
Hannah Rogers led the Cardinals with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Jordyn Lilly was held to 14 points.
Bishop (3-1) completes the tournament Saturday with a pair of games. It plays Orcutt Academy at 10 a.m. and Cate at 2:30 p.m.
