Bishop Diego outscored visiting Orcutt Academy 22-3 in the second quarter en route to a 59-20 non-league girls basketball win on Thursday night.
Jordyn Lilly led a balanced offense for the Cardinals with 15 points. She also had 14 rebounds and seven assists. Hannah Rogers scored 12 points and Ann Bentajado added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
“We did a great job passing the ball,” Bishop coach Jeff Burich said. “I’d say half of our baskets came off assists. The kids were really unselfish tonight. They passed up good shots for better shots.”
Burich also lauded the team’s defensive effort. “I was pleased how we rotated and forced (Orcutt Academy) into tough passing situations,” he said.
The Cardinals (2-0) return to action on Wednesday when they play Thacher in the annual Bird Cage Classic.
