Carpinteria dropped its boys soccer season opener at Pacifica, 1-0, on Monday.
The lone goal was scored in the 52nd on a counterattack. Pacifica started a breakout after a Carpinteria corner kick was cleared. The Tritons took advantage of an undermanned defense and scored the goal.
Despite the loss, Carpinteria coach Leo Quintero said he liked the effort from his young squad.
“A great overall effort by our whole team from the front to the back,” he said. “Jose Angeles, our starting keeper, made a great PK save at minute 41 of the first half.”
The Warriors (0-1-0) travel to Oxnard on Wednesday.
