San Marcos’ boys soccer team began the Harold S. Young Tournament in Fresno on Friday with a pair of losses to San Joaquin Memorial and Mendota.
The Royals gave up early goals in each match and could not overcome. Efrain Galindrez scored an equalizing goal against Memorial but San Joaquin advanced on penalty shots.
Mendota topped the Royals 1-0 in the second game of the day.
Royals head coach Rob Lauderdale praised performances by Kyle Carter, Dylan Schultz, Andy Mandrell, Romario Martinez, Camillo Gonzagli, Tony Garcia, Mikey Flores and Sean Estabrooks.
San Marcos has two more games at the tournament on Saturday.
