Santa Barbara High dunked Rio Mesa 5-0 on Monday before drawing Thousand Oaks on the first day of the Buena Tournament.
The results clinched a semifinal berth for Santa Barbara, which has made the final four in each of the three tournaments its played in this season.
Celso Lagunas scored twice against the Spartans and assisted on Brandon Sanchez’s goal in a 1-1 tie with the Lancers. Carlos Hernandez, Ignacio Rendon and Carlos Rodriguez added goals versus Rio Mesa. Peter Ruiz recorded two assists.
Sophomore goalie Juan Pablo Santana started his first game at the varsity level and finished with a shutout.
The Dons (9-1-4) advance from their pool into Tuesday’s semifinals. Santa Barbara will meet Palmdale at 10:30 a.m.
