Noah Reed had an outstanding night for the Warriors, leading Carpinteria to 68-43 season-opening road victory over Hueneme on Tuesday night.
Reed finished the game with 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Omar Miranda chipped in with 11 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Mason Picerni and Malcolm Gordon added 12 points apiece for the Warriors.
Initially, the Vikings’ pressure made it hard for Carpinteria to hit shots and convert. However, once the Warriors settled down, the game got easier for them and they started to attack.
In the second quarter, Reed hit back to back 3-pointers to push the lead to double digits. From that point onward, Carpinteria’s advantage never slipped back down to single digits.
After leading by eleven at halftime, the Warriors came out strong in the second half. Carpinteria found a lot of holes in Hueneme’s defense as Gordon converted on four 3-pointers.
“We are pleased with the start and all of my guys played well,” said Warriors head coach Johnny Ward. “However, the team has a lot to work on and we all know where to improve immediately.”
With the victory, Carpinteria improves to 1-0 on the season. The Warriors play next in the upcoming Fillmore tournament starting on December 11th.
