Santa Barbara High couldn’t cool off a hot Valencia team in the fourth quarter and suffered a 79-64 boys basketball defeat in the championship game of the Simi Valley Tournament on Saturday night.
Santa Barbara was down by only four at the end of the third quarter, but the Vikings pulled away in the final period to hand the Dons their first loss of the season. Dakota Abbott scored 21 of his game-high 36 points after halftime for the Vikings.
The Vikings attacked the basket and drew several fouls to get to the free-throw line.
Bolden Brace scored 23 points and Chris Wagonhurst tallied 15 to lead Santa Barbara.
The Dons (5-1) are home Tuesday against Arroyo Grande.
