Senior Adilene Aldapa of San Marcos was the highest finisher of local runners at Saturday’s CIF cross country championships at Mt. San Antonio College.
The San Jose State-bound Aldapa placed 11th in the Division 3 girls race, covering the hilly 3-mile course in 18 minutes, 20 seconds. Sophomore teammate Erica Schroeder came in 19th in 18:36. They were running as individuals.
The Dos Pueblos girls came in 11th place in the Division 3 team race. Sophomore Christina Rice led the Chargers with a time of 18:43, good for 26th place. Senior Elaine McClure was next in 32nd place in 18:53. She was followed by Natalie McClure (61st, 19:35), Tatianna Schluep (70th, 19:52) and Joanna Zukin (102, 20:50).
In the Division 3 boys race, Dos Pueblos placed 15th. Senior Chris Wasjutin was the top Charger in 56th place in 16:13. Sophomore Hunter Clark was next in 73rd (16:28) followed by Ian Wasjutin (81st, 16:40), Nathan Alvarez (85th, 16:44) and Paul Wren (96th, 17:01).
