Due to mistakes in the seeding process, the seeds of the 6 through 9 teams in the Southern Cal Women’s Volleyball Regional have been switched.
The WSC North champion Vaqueros (20-5) went from No. 6 seed to No. 7 and will still be at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Their opponent will be No. 10 Orange Coast (14-6), the fourth-place team from the Orange Empire Conference.
Tuesday will be a doubleheader in the Sports Pavilion with men’s basketball taking on Glendale at 4 p.m. Both games will be live-streamed on the Internet with Ryan Graff calling the action (http://portal.
The Vaquero volleyball team won its third straight WSC North title and fifth in six years by sweeping Cuesta last Wednesday. They’ve won five in a row and 16 of their last 17 matches.
Santa Barbara is making its sixth straight trip to the State playoffs. Last year, the Vaqueros won two postseason matches and finished fifth in the State.
The Vaqueros are led by setter Madelon Leiphardt, the 2014 WSC North Player of the Year and All-Southern Cal Region selection. Her favorite targets are outside hitter Katelynn Womack (271 kills, 192 digs) and middle blocker Taylor Badois (164 kills, 70 blocks).
Orange Coast went 8-6 in the toughest conference in Southern Cal and has dropped three of its last five matches. The Pirates are led by the 1-2 punch of Sierra Brown (188 kills, 146 digs) and Danyelle Brown (175 kills, 168 digs).
