WSoc: Crooker nets two goals in victory over Moorpark

Kaitlyn Crooker recorded her seventh two-goal game on the season as she carried the SBCC women’s soccer team to it’s fifth straight win on Tuesday at La Playa Stadium.

Crooker scored in the 5th and 82nd minute to score the only goals of the game in a 2-0 shutout over Moorpark. The first goal of the game came off of a beautiful feed from Alex Abbot.

“Kaitlyn made a beautiful run and I saw her through the corner of my eye and slotted it through,” said Abbott.

The Vaqueros outshot the Raiders 28-7 and had nine shots on-goal compared to four for Moorpark. Kasey Jensen stepped in for the injured Karin Nordin as goalkeeper and made four saves to record her first shutout.

“We started off brightly and scored an early goal and that’s what we needed,” said coach John Sisterson. “Early on in the season, the girls were letting teams back into the game but that’s not happening now. They’re learning how to work hard for each other and manage the game better.”

The first-place Vaqueros improve to 11-3-4 overall and 7-0-3 in league. They will travel to San Luis Obispo on Friday for a contest at Cuesta.
