Westmont shot a blistering 64 percent and won its second straight basketball game of the weekend, beating Cal Maritime, 77-64 Saturday in Atherton.
“We had a very, very good shooting percentage which directly reflected the good play that we got out of a lot people today,” said coach John Moore.
It was Moore’s 501st career win.
The Warriors shot 13 for 19 in the first half and came out with 14 for 23 in the second. Daniel Carlin led the charge with 17 points, followed by Cory Blau with 13 and Gerry Karczewski with 10.
Carlin was a machine in the paint. He made all six of his shots from the field and grabbed seven rebounds.
“Daniel was the force in the middle. He had 15 points at the half and was all around really, really good,” exclaimed Moore. “As a team, we had a rebounding margin of 27-19 and shot absolutely phenomenal from the field.”
“Our bench was especially good,’ he added. “Hayden Anderson played very well and both Sean Harman and Billy Keller continue to contribute. Sean McDonnell was especially good- I thought he had a superb game.”
With the win, Westmont evened its record at 3-3. The Warriors will remain on the road and take the court on Tuesday Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. against Vanguard University in their first Golden State Athletic Conference game of the season.
