Carpinteria’s girls volleyball team advanced to the second round of the CIF Division 4A playoff after a 25-23, 15-25, 25-15, 25-22 victory over St. Pius X St. Matthias.
Warriors coach Dino Garcia credited quality passing, a high level of energy and good communication as keys to the win.
Outside hitter Miranda Marquez had a team-high eight kills and four aces. Middle blocker Jamie Brooks had four kills two blocks. Lesny Espinoza collected 19 digs and setter Adriana Morales had 18 assists.
Thursday’s second-round match will be played at Duarte.
