San Marcos has made the right call on coin flips for girls volleyball.
The Royals won a coin flip with Valencia on Wednesday to get a home match for the second round of the CIF Division 1A playoffs on Thursday. First serve at the Thunderhut is 7 p.m.
San Marcos also won a coin flip to receive the Channel League’s No. 1 spot for the playoffs. The Royals finished in a tie for first place with Santa Barbara and Ventura and coin flips determined the league’s playoff seedings.
In other second-round action on Thursday, Santa Barbara makes another trip to Orange County to face 1A top seed Aliso Niguel.
In Division 4A, top-seeded Cate is home to Azusa at 6 p.m. Cate earned a bye in the first round. Carpinteria travels to second-seeded Duarte.
