Competing at the first-ever Ojai Twilight Meet at Lake Casitas, Cate’s cross country teams ran to fourth-place finishes.
Kyril Von Schendel and Charlotte Monke led the boys and girls teams with individual fourth-places. Von Schendel, a freshman, was making his season debut with the Rams and completed the 3-mile course in 17:14. Monke’s time was 21:14.
Another freshman, Isabela Montes de Oca, placed seventh overall in the girls race with an improved time of 21:38.
Three other Cate runners — Jack Pruitt (16th, 18:27), Rei Imada (19th, 18:34), and Humza Khurshid (28th, 18:58) — produced top-30 races.
“Overall, it was a good afternoon for the Rams, and with the expected return of several injured runners next week, the team is looking forward to its next meet,” reported Rams head coach Karl Weis.
