Katelynn Womack had a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs on Wednesday and Kaitlyn Clemann added 10 kills as SBCC swept Hancock 26-24, 25-21, 25-18 in a WSC North women’s volleyball match at Santa Maria.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 8 in California, won their seventh straight match to improve to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in conference. Hancock fell to 5-9 and 0-2.
It was the fourth double-double in the last five matches for Womack, a freshman from Rio Mesa High. Tristen Thompson played solid defense and contributed 13 digs while Eryn Young and Sydney Kantor had 12 apiece.
Madelon Leiphardt handed out 30 assists for the Vaqueros, are 5-1 on the road this year. Trailing 24-23 in the first set, Womack recorded a kill and the visitors got two quick points to grab the victory.
“It wasn’t our best hitting night and our ball control kept us in it,” said coach Ed Gover. “Once we stopped making errors, we were able to take care of business.”
The Vaqueros host Moorpark on Friday at 6 p.m.
