SBCC outshot Ventura on Friday night but couldn’t get one in the net in a 0-0 women’s soccer tie.
The Vaqueros (6-3-4, 3-0-3) remained unbeaten in WSC North play and have a one-point lead over L.A. Pierce (3-0-2). Ventura is 6-2-4 and 2-0-3.
Santa Barbara, which had 14 shots on goal, is undefeated in its last seven contests (4-0-3).
“We played well enough to win and we had lots of chances,” said coach John Sisterson. “We just needed a little luck.”
SBCC came close on the last play of the game when a corner kick got past the goalie and a Vaquero headed it toward the goal line.
“Some people thought it crossed the line but a defender headed it out,” Sisterson noted.
The Vaqueros host Taft in a nonconference game on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
