Long Beach State scored a goal in each half and, in the end, the 49ers cruised to a 2-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday evening in Long Beach.
The 49ers tallied the match’s first score in the 17th minute when Vania Robles pounded home her own miss, giving Long Beach a 1-0 edge.
The score remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute when Ashley Gonzales scored on a penalty kick.
On the night, UCSB had seven shots, three of which were on goal. Long Beach State had 11 shots, seven on frame. The Gauchos’ Beth Ritter had five saves to keep the contest close. Ashton McKeown knocked-away three shots for the 49ers.
The Gauchos are now 6-5-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.
