(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) The Golden State Athletic Conference has announced that Westmont (12-3, 7-2 GSAC) senior Tiffany Dimaculangan of Glendora has been named Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement comes after a week in which Westmont took over sole possession of first place – the result of wins over #10 Vanguard (13-2-1, 6-2) and #18 Biola (12-4, 6-3).
“I thought Tiffany Dimaculangan was the player of the game and I thought Sophie Fuller was right there beside her,” said Westmont head coach Kristi Kiely after the 1-0 win over Vanguard. “They made a huge difference for us in a very tight game.”
Against Biola, Dimaculangan delivered a penalty kick goal in the first minute of play after Christine Adams was fouled in the box by the Biola goalkeeper.
On the year, Dimaculangan has scored five goals and recorded three assists.
The Warriors sit atop the conference with 21 points in the GSAC standings (three points for a win, one point for a tie). With a win on Tuesday against William Jessup (6-10, 1-7), the Warriors can clinch at least a shared regular season championship, depending on how the rest of the conference plays out over this week. If victorious, the Warriors will earn the first conference championship for women’s soccer since 2003.
With a win on Tuesday, the Warriors will also secure the number one seed in the upcoming Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament. The number one seed carries with it a first round bye and a home game in the second round. Should the Warriors win the semifinal game, as the number one seed they would also host the championship game.
