Oxnard scored quickly in the first and second halves on Tuesday en route to a 2-0 WSC men’s soccer victory over SBCC.
The first-place Condors (11-3-3, 10-0-2) found the net in the 6th and 47th minutes.
Coach John Sisterson thought the Vaqueros (6-8-2, 5-4-2) had scored in the first 20 seconds. Kebba Nyang took a long pass and crossed it to Mehdi Badache, who banged a shot off the underside of the crossbar and it bounced straight down but never crossed the line.
“We felt we should have had a PK in the first half,” noted Sisterson. “We had opportunities, certainly on set pieces, but we just didn’t finish our chances.”
Oxnard has outscored its WSC opponents 37-6 and has a healthy 32-20 lead in points over second-place L.A. Mission. The Vaqueros are in fifth place with five games remaining.
SBCC travels to Glendale on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest.
