Danny Molina scored on a 2-yard run in overtime, lifting Bishop Diego to a 20-17 comeback football victory over Immanuel in battle of unbeatens in Reedley on Saturday night.
Molina’s touchdown came after Bishop’s defense stopped Immanuel on the first possession of overtime. The Eagles settled for a field goal to take a 17-14 lead.
The Cardinals, ranked fourth in the CIF Northern Division, complete pre-league play with a 7-0 record. Immanuel, the No. 1 team in Division 5 of the Central Section, fell to 6-1.
This was Bishop’s toughest contest of season. The Cardinals trailed 14-0 at halftime, as Immanuel scored on a 30-yard pass in the first quarter and a 10-yard run with 5:44 left in the second quarter.
Bishop Diego got back in the game on 4-yard touchdown run by Abel Gonzalez with 5:50 left in the third quarter.
The Cardinals tied the score with 1:17 left in regulation on a 12-yard TD run by Molina.
