PRE-GAME INTRO: Dos Pueblos (1-6, 0-1) hosts to Santa Barbara High (3-4, 0-1) tonight in the second Channel League game of the season for both teams. Already a rivalry game, the game takes on extra weight with both teams coming off a loss in their league openers.
This is the first of the three rivalry games that make up the City Championship series. Dos Pueblos and San Marcos face off in Battle of Goleta Valley next Friday, and San Marcos and Santa Barbara clash in the Big Game on Nov. 7.
Santa Barbara coach JT Stone hopes playing a city rival will lift the spirits and improve the focus of his football team after last week’s 44-7 drubbing against CIF Western Division fourth-ranked Ventura.
The Dons were run over in the second half against the Cougars. Junior quarterback Brent Peus was under duress on almost every snap.
The Chargers are expected to go with sophomore Kellen Roberts at quarterback after their offense struggled in a 24-7 defeat against Buena. Roberts has started three games this season and led DP to its only win, 42-20 over Santa Ynez.

7:46- Chargers’ running back Angel Davison has been nearly unstoppable tonight. After a 13-yard run for a first down, Davison now has 144 rushing yards on 16 carries.
8:08- Santa Barbara linebacker Carter Soto intercepts a Chargers pass and takes it back 35 yards for a pick-six. The Dons capitalize on their ninth interception of the year to go up 21-14.

THIRD QUARTER
End of 3rd quarter: Score still tied at 14 after Flora’s equalizer.
1:43- On fourth and short, Chargers QB Kellen Roberts scrambles to his right and completes a phenomenal 7-yard touchdown pass to Josh Flora. Flora’s second touchdown catch of the day equals the score, 14-14.
3:20- Angel Davison strikes again: the senior breaks several tackles and returns a punt for 36 yards to place the Chargers on the Santa Barbara 19.
4:29- Dos Pueblos’ following field goal is no good. Score remains 14-7, Santa Barbara.
5:30- Chargers’ running back Angel Davison takes a handoff on the DP 4-yard line and blasts down the sideline for an 81-yard gain. Davison’s run puts the Chargers on the Santa Barbara 16-yard line. Davison is the Channel league’s fifth-leading rusher.
9:46- Santa Barbara forces a Chargers three-and-out to start the second half.
SECOND QUARTER
0:10- Peus’ run to stop the clock pays off: Daniel Vallin catches a screen pass and takes it to the house for a Santa Barbara 40-yard touchdown. Dons lead 14-7 heading into halftime.

5:15- Dos Pueblos stops a Santa Barbara 4th down conversion attempt. Chargers take over on their own 39-yard line.
