GVB: Chargers rise to top of standings with win over Ventura

Dos Pueblos began the second round of league play on Tuesday with a victory over the only team to beat them the first time around, posting a 25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 25-18 decision over Ventura.

Dos Pueblos, in first place with a 4-1 record, hosts Santa Barbara on Thursday. Ventura falls to 3-2 in league play.

McKenna Goss, Natalie Klapp, Camille Cotter and Sam Sander were keys to victory according to head coach Todd Garrett.

“Sam has really stepped up as a defensive machine and a leader on and off the court. She brings the competitive spirit we feed off of,” Garrett said.

Goss and Klapp came through with double-doubles. Goss collected 20 kills and 18 digs, Klapp had 15 and 19, and Sander piled up a team-high 28 digs.
