Carpinteria came back from the brink to defeat Malibu on Thursday in a dramatic turnaround from when the two teams met just two weeks ago.
The Warriors, who clinched the match with a 72-71 advantage in games, were down 6-9 before winning the final three sets to force the tiebreaker.
Just two weeks ago, the Warriors trounced the Sharks 17-1. But the Warriors were without top singles player Kelsie Bryant and Malibu gained a player.
Malibu led 4-2 and 7-5 after the first and second rounds, respectively.
“I give Malibu a ton of credit,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant. “They have improved immensely and I think we might have taken them for granted a bit.”
Carpinteria was led by the doubles team of Merissa Souza and Lesly Zapata, who swept three sets.
Madison Cleek and Kathryn Blair won clutch third-round sets in singles.
Carpinteria improves to 4-1 in the Tri-Valley League.
